Yellow…was the color of the raincoat, that I wore on that blustery day. The wind cold and playful, tried to take my precious coat from me. My brilliant garb fluttered behind me like a cape, as I walked that morning to school.
As I walked…I thought…Perhaps if enough wind filled it, maybe I would take flight like some awkward canary. What a sight I would make as the other birds saw me in flight. For they would be the only ones to see me. It was well know that no one ever really looks up.
A soft rain began to fall and pattered on my slick coat. Beads of fresh water danced on my arms as I held them out. It then crossed my mind, that my yellow coat was magical, a gift from the sun god, and I could control the water that fell upon my coat, like a weather wizard. I then spun with my arms stretched out, and water flung about, hitting my unseen enemies.
As the rain came done harder, I pulled by coat about me tighter. It was then, I considered my yellow coat, to be a magical set of armor, that kept the rain god’s fury off my skin. Maybe my coat, was made from the skin of ancient water dragon. A prize won by one of my ancient ancestors so very long ago.
As I neared school, and entered the building. I quickly walked to my classroom. When I stepped inside it, I removed my raincoat and hung it upon the wooden peg next to cubby, marked with my name. After I walked over to my desk, and sat down. I gazed…one last time…at my coat. It may not really be magical, but it was yellow…my favorite color, perhaps that was all that really mattered.
